The first UFC event of the year 2023 had an amazing start. The fight night saw two rivals Javid Basharat and Mateus Mendonca give it their all during the preliminary round.

Afghani bantamweight Javid Basharat and Brazilian Mateus Mendonca had a tense moment during the weigh-ins face-offs. Both the 135-pounders headed into the bout as undefeated fighters. During the face-offs, the Brazilian fighter made a “gunshot” sign towards his rival which stuck to Bashrat’s mind.

Though Basharat could not exact the best revenge, he sure did have the last laugh in the fight. After three rounds of back-and-forth, Basharat got the decision win handing Mendonca his career defeat. At the ring of the final bell, Basharat pointed the gun sign toward his rival making the fans go wild.

This is not the first time we have seen fighters take things personally. Javid will be added to the long list of “cold” moments from MMA fighters in the eyes of the fans. The MMA world went wild on Twitter when the Afghani fighter did the “gunshot” sign.

Twitter erupts after ‘cold’ moment from Javid Basharat at UFC Vegas 67

After Basharat gave Mendonca the gun sign at UFC Vegas 67, Twitter was flooded with reactions from MMA fans. Fans took to their social media accounts to celebrate this “cold” moment from the Afghani and also his win over Mateus. Check out some of the reactions.

This is not the first time Javid Basharat has silenced his opponent with his fighting performance. The Afghani bantamweight was also called a terrorist by one of his earlier opponents against whom he earned a submission victory.

Basharat has successfully extended his undefeated streak and is now 14-0. Since his debut in March 2022, the fighter has gone 3-0 in the UFC octagon. His last three wins have come via unanimous decision. Basharat will be now looking to face a top 15 contender from the stacked division.
